Welcome to the 2018 - 2019 school year! This is an exciting time for your child, although he/she may be a little apprehensive about going to "real" school. This is also a time of mixed emotions for parents - - - joy that your child is ready for school, but sadness because he/she is no longer a "baby"! The first day of school will mark one of the most important milestones in your child's life. I'm so glad I get to share that with you.
Be assured that I will do my best to make this school year and enjoyable time for your child, but also a time filled with real learning. The skills we have practice daily in kindergarten are the building blocks for your child's future success in school and in life. I know if we all work together, we can make this a wonderful year for our students to help them Reach each goal that is set for them.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as well. My name is Maria Licea, and I am one of the three TK teachers here at Palla Elementary. This will be my 13th year of teaching. I graduated in 2006 from the University of Phoenix with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I am also fluent in Spanish. I've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember so this is my dream job! I love my job and hope to pass my love for learning on to my students. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the Greenfield teaching staff.
The rules in our class are easy to follow. Be kind to others. Practice self control, achieve goals (we are here to learn). Be respectful to others (kids and adults). Stay on task (finish the job you have started) if a student does not follow one of the rules, their last recess will be taken away (10 minutes). So far I have a great class and don't anticipate any problems.
I am looking forward to getting to know all the children. I am sure that all of us will learn a lot in the upcoming months! I will send home information to keep you informed and up-to-date on what the children are doing in the classroom, as well as what you can do with your child at home to provide additional practice in certain areas. If you ever have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or come by and see me.
Thank you, maria Licea
